Art is about visualizing experiences

I live by the coast and enjoy watching the moods of the sea-sky relationship.  My paintings evolve from ideas about life that correspond to environmental experiences. 

I use drawings and photographs as a starting point together with physical references and a familiarity with art/design theory.  An experience is the focus not the resultant object. However, the object serves as a reminder of the journey.

After many years of screen-based work, I relish the opportunity to listen to the voice within that guides my visualizing decisions each day. My skills include drawing, photography, painting, sculpture and digital media. Portraiture and still life painting are my current interests. The physical battles with a brush are a fascination.

My academic career included expertise in tertiary education for art/architecture/design history and theory of digital media design.  Since 2013 I have been working as a freelance artist at Blue Bay Studios in South Australia. The future is an open book, each day a new page.
